சிகரம் தொடு Award Ceremony 2022
The சிகரம் தொடு ceremony at our School was a grand occasion that recognized and celebrated the academic and extracurricular achievements of the students and teachers. The ceremony was attended by a large number of students, teachers, parents, and Parents committee members, as well as special guests, local Member of Parliament (MP) Cassandra Fernando and Mrs Ranji Soma.
The ceremony began with our Tamil tradition of lighting the lamps. Teachers and Chief Guests were invited to light the lamps to start the award ceremony with warmth and happiness.
This was continued by a welcome speech by Priyanka and Sireksana, who thanked everyone for their participation and congratulated the students and teachers on their hard work and dedication throughout the year. They also introduced the Chief Guest, MP Cassandra Fernando, who delivered a motivational speech to the students and presented the certificate and cheque for the Holt 2022-23 Volunteer Grant.
After the welcome speeches, a few of our students performed a drama. This drama outlined that we must work together to protect the trees and must not destroy them. This drama was directed by Thamizhine teacher and Priya teacher.
Then, the ceremony proceeded with the graduation ceremonies for the Kindergarten and Year 6 students. These students had completed their respective levels of education and were moving on to the next stage of their Tamil learning journey. The graduates received their certificates to mark this special occasion.
The graduation was then followed with the presentation of awards. The first set of awards was presented to the students with the highest attendance in each class. These students had consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to their studies by regularly attending classes and participating in school activities. They received a trophy and a certificate.
Next, the class champion awards were presented to the top-performing students. These students had excelled academically and had consistently demonstrated a high level of effort and dedication. The award was given to one student from each class, and they received a certificate and a trophy.
This year, we had 6 students who sat for VCE and obtained great results. It brings us immense pride to see our master and excel in the language. To celebrate this achievement, all of our VCE students were presented a trophy and certificate.
The VCE High Achievement in Tamil award was presented to Niruthika Thaveesan, who had achieved the highest score in our campus. This student received a certificate and a cash prize of $500.
In addition to student awards, the ceremony also recognized the achievements of the teachers. The Best Teacher of the Year for High Attendance award was presented to the teacher who had demonstrated the highest level of attendance. Malar teacher won this award for the third time in a row with 100% attendance.
The Principal’s Honorary award was presented to a student and teachers who had made the greatest overall contribution to the school community. Kabisan Vipieshanan, showed an outstanding level of contribution to the school. Hence, he received the Principal’s Honorary Award for Students. The Principal’s Honorary Award for Teachers was presented to Prema teacher who had demonstrated the highest level of dedication and commitment to the VCE students over the years. She has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to her profession of teaching and had made significant contributions to the school community.
The Saathanai Thamizhan award was presented to a member of the Tamil community who had made a significant contribution to promoting Tamil culture and language within the wider community. This award recognized the efforts of individuals who had dedicated their time and energy to preserving and celebrating Tamil culture, and this year it was awarded to Late Mr Soma Kumarasamy Somasundaram. We presented this award with great pride and joy and he will always serve as an inspiration for us.
Overall, the prize giving ceremony was a wonderful celebration of the achievements of the students and teachers at our School. It was a proud moment for the students, teachers, and parents, and it served as a reminder of the importance of hard work and dedication in achieving academic and personal success.
